IN THIS LESSON

This book is a second volume to the Gospel according to Luke. It’s subject is the story of the early Church.

Luke’s name does not appear in the Gospel of Luke nor the book of Acts, but he is widely recognized the books’ author. Putting together several passages in the Bible points to Luke as the author (Luke 1:1-4; Acts 1:1; Colossians 4:14; Acts 16:10-17; 27:1-28:16; 2 Timothy 4:11; Philemon 1:24).

In Acts Luke never mentioned his own name. He simply said “we” or “us.” (Acts 16:10-17; 20:5-15; 21:1-8; 27:1-28:16). He was not one of the twelve apostle and did not personally witness Jesus’ ministry. (Luke 1:2; Acts 1:21-22)
